About Tammy Bentz
I want to add a bold new voice to Council.
I’m running for City Council because I love North Vancouver. I love the ocean, trails, and mountains that make it beautiful but I love this vibe of living in a connected community that it offers even more.
I want to serve on a city council that’s responsive, accountable, and bold. I want this community to feel valued and looked after. I am at a stage in life where I have time to dedicate my time to work as one of our community’s stewards and ensure our city remains a leader in building a sustainable, inclusive, and financially responsible future. We can protect the natural environment that defines our city while creating complete neighbourhoods where people of all ages can afford to live, work, and thrive.
I want to listen to neighbours and bring their ideas forward to council. I want a community where we are all heard.
My background
- Already a passionate advocate for my community in many areas, I want to work together with neighbours to benefit each and all of us. I’m optimistic with practical perseverance & dogged tenacity.
- Grateful CNV’er who’s raised my kid here, volunteering on little league teams, school committees, & community climate justice groups
- Communication has been my livelihood as Faculty of BCIT (School of Business & Media) and working as a Script Supervisor, Director, Writer, Producer in the Film Industry.
- Former small business co-owner
- 2SLGBTQ+ volunteering with the North Shore Pride Alliance
- Past member on various Boards of Directors, for Arts organizations & non-profit societies
- Big fan of beach walks, trail hikes, watching skateboarders/ snowboarders/ mountainbikers, public discourse, libraries & reading, cats, and good food
My principles
If elected, every decision I make at City Hall will be guided by five principles:
- Govern openly, collaboratively, and with integrity
- Invest wisely and respect taxpayers while promoting livable wages
- Make it easier to walk, cycle, take transit, or drive safely
- Protect our environment while protecting residents from the impacts of climate change
- Build more homes/make homes greener while maintaining neighbourhood livability
North Vancouver can continue to grow into a more affordable, sustainable, welcoming, and resilient city. By working together with residents, businesses, Indigenous partners, and other governments, we can build a community that offers opportunity, protects what makes our city special, and delivers practical results for today’s residents and for future generations.
Tammy Bentz is one of my all-time favourite people. Having been acquainted with her for the past several years in my work as an electrician, I have known her to be full of wit, energy, positivity and, when things really need to happen, tenacity in a fair manner. I’ve known Tammy for several years and will be proud to vote for her for Council in October. She will be a great representative for us all because she listens and she cares. I’ve gone out knocking on doors in North Vancouver with Tammy many times, and while other candidates will aim to talk to as many potential voters as possible, as quickly as possible, she is more about quality, not quantity. She’ll chat to one person for half an hour, having a real conversation to learn about the issues that matter most to them.
